TUSD Grading During the COVID-19 Closure

In coordinating with the Arizona Department of Education and the State Board of Education, the TUSD Administration team has set the following guidelines for recording grades during the COVID-19 school closure.

We will base student's grades on both participation and work performance. These grades will be entered once weekly into Synergy. The grading scale based on participation will be divided into five categories.

  • No to minimal participation 0%
  • Low participation 69%
  • Average participation 79%
  • Good participation 89%
  • Excellent participation 100%

Important Information

  • Eight weekly grades will be entered into each teachers’ grade books by May 21, teachers will enter work not completed as an absence.
  • Grades K–8 closure period will represent no more than 20% of the final grade
  • Grades 9–12 closure period will represent no more than 40% of the final grade
  • Seniors must complete the state-mandated government/economics class and pass the civics test
  • Late work will receive full credit

A huge thanks to all the parents, guardians, grandparents, friends, neighbors who are helping our students navigate this new way of learning. And another huge thanks to the teachers and staff at all of the schools for the work they are doing from. We are all in this together!

We encourage all students to keep up with their assignments through these uncertain times we are experiencing. Daily Breakfast and Lunch During School Closure

Beginning on Friday, April 24, meals will now include weekend meals! Each Friday during the school closure students will receive breakfast and lunch for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. As a reminder, this is for anyone age 0–18. Routes and times remain the same.

School Closure Due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Governor Ducey and State Superintendent Hoffman have announced that Arizona schools will remain closed through the end of this school year. The daily schedule for meal delivery and homework instruction will continue through May 21. Homework Hotlines are open are ready to help at all three schools. We want to congratulate our dedicated staff, parents, and students for their all hard work and cooperation. As we receive any information, we will share it with you.
